On the occasion of the Italian design day (IDD), the Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam, in collaboration with Seed Foundation and Listone Giordano, is pleased to host a special evening dedicated to responsible design as a powerful tool for shaping the present and envisioning the future.
Design Actions for the Future
Lecture with Amedeo Schiattarella
March 4, 2026 – 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam
Keizersgracht 564, Amsterdam
The event features Amedeo Schiattarella, one of the leading voices in contemporary architecture, whose work defines architecture as a civic and ethical act rooted in place, memory, and community.
In his lecture, Schiattarella will reflect on architecture as a cultural practice capable of fostering identity and social cohesion. From the idea of the “void” as a living, generative space to projects developed in Rome and Saudi Arabia, he will address the risks of global homogenization and advocate for the enduring value of local specificity.
Rather than viewing architecture as mere construction, the talk presents it as a conscious and responsible practice—engaged with climate awareness, social responsibility, and cultural continuity. An approach of particular relevance to those committed to shaping the cities of tomorrow.
The evening will also include a preview of the Seed International Festival (https://seed360.org/en/), a cultural platform that brings together designers, researchers, and philosophers to examine design as meaningful action for the future and to engage with the pressing challenges of our time.
The lecture will be held in English.
Free admission, subject to availability.
