The Dutch National Opera Academy, in association with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Amsterdam, proudly presents the second installment of the Montgomery–van Dooren Series, celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Kenneth Montgomery and Jan van Dooren.
Led by artists who worked closely with them, this ongoing series of masterclasses honours their lifelong dedication to supporting, encouraging, and inspiring generations of young performers. It stands as a tribute not only to Montgomery’s remarkable career, but also to the enduring spirit of collaboration and generosity that both he and Jan embodied.
This year’s edition features acclaimed Italian baritone Pietro Spagnoli, a celebrated interpreter on the international opera stage. Known for his versatility and artistry, Spagnoli has performed at leading houses including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House, and the Opéra National de Paris.
A public masterclass will take place on

in the Swelinckzaal of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Admission is free, but due to limited seating, reservation is required via dnoa@ahk.nl
A second public session will follow on
Saturday, 29 November 2025,
from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (Keizersgracht 564, Amsterdam).
During this event, Maestro Spagnoli will work with singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the interpretative and technical artistry of one of today’s leading baritones.
