Forest Light is het nieuwste project van zangeres en componiste Marta Arpini.
Het kwintet dat bestaat uit zang, gitaar, vibrafoon, contrabas en drums en werd opgericht in Amsterdam werkt met arrangementen en origineel materiaal van Marta en brengt zo een bijzondere en uiterst betoverende microkosmos tot stand. De groep brengt de suggestieve sferen van de wereld van de songwriting en de voor de jazz zo kenmerkende intense wisselwerking samen, onderzoekt op unieke en persoonlijke wijze de klankkleur en ontwikkelt een wonderlijke crossovertaal teneinde via de puurheid van de liederen betekenisvolle verhalen te vertellen.

Marta Arpini, born in 1994, from Crema (IT), has been studying music since she was a child; she started studying vocals when she was 12. From 2014 to 2017 she had been studying jazz vocals at Civici Corsi di Jazz in Milano, where she graduated with the highest grade.
In the latest three years she has taken part to many masterclasses and workshops, including Berklee College of Music’s clinics (Umbria Jazz), Nuoro Jazz Summer Workshops and International Siena Jazz Summer Workshops.
In January 2016 she was one of the finalists in the national competition “Chicco Bettinardi” for young Italian jazz talents, where she won the audience award.
She has worked with many di fferent ensembles, such as Arpini-Caputo duo, 3AlBot Jazz Quartet, Deaf Kaki Chumpy; in February 2017 she created her own quartet, tiny:tales, with which she started performing her own compositions; in July 2017, the band was included in the finals of Fara Jazz Live competition.
She is now in her first year of the master program in jazz vocals at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she’s working on her music with her new project, Forest Light.
Forest Light, selected as a semifinalist in the international competition Keep an Eye Jazz Award in March 2018, and now finalist in the Expression of Art Award 2019, has performed in the Netherlands (Jazz at the Plantage; Uitmarkt) and in Italy (Crema Film Festival); now it’s planning to record its first album at the beginning of 2019.
